Wild weather belts the Upper Murray again
The wayside stop west of Corryong beside the Thougla Creek was submerged.

The region was deluged by a heavy storm last night for the third time in two months. More than 70mm of rain fell in some areas and local waterways burst their banks, causing water to stream across roadways causing dangerous driving conditions. Many trees along the Great River Road between Corryong and Walwa also came down, creating traffic hazards.

Several long time residents said that the lightning show, deafening thunder and driving rain were the most intense they could recall.

The storm also affected a number of Corryong businesses with the local bakery and butchery being the worst affected, when water started coursing through the premises at about 1am, causing them to be closed for Saturday morning trading while a big clean-up was carried out.
